If you are staying at one of our locations throughout Scotland or just visiting the area, we have a few suggestions on where to visit this Valentines weekend…

Valentines Weekend in Fife

From romantic walks to a gorgeous meal, Fife has an abundance of wonderful ways to spend time with your Valentine!

Start your day with a brisk winter stroll, we would highly recommend Tentsmuir Forest & Kinshaldy Beach. If you’re lucky you may see red squirrels in the trees, and roe deer weaving through the undergrowth. You might even see seals basking on the sand!

At this time of year, you will definitely have to warm yourself after your walk and of course sample some local baking. The Solid Luxury Team have often found themselves at Pillars of Hercules in Falkland indulging in the best homemade scones around. We would also recommend Balgove Larder on the way to St Andrews, the cake slices are not for the faint hearted!

Spend your afternoon strolling round the ancient streets of St Andrews and make sure you visit St Rule’s Tower for the best views across St Andrews and Fife. Once you’ve worked up an appetite, end your day with a romantic dinner, St Andrews has an abundance of excellent restaurants however, we would recommend Little Italy or The Rav.

An Active Valentines Break in Dumfries & Galloway

Dumfries & Galloway is a haven for those who love the outdoors so grab your Valentine and enjoy an adventurous weekend this year!

Enjoy a delicious breakfast at the Riverside Restaurant in Newton Stewart, just along the road from Conifer Lodges, to set you up for a day out and about exploring the local area. From here why not venture to one of the many gorgeous beaches, a highlight for us is Mossyard Beach, a hidden gem where you can explore the rock pools or take your four-legged friend along for a run around (Riley, our office dog, loves it here!).

Mossyard is also close to Laggan Outdoor where you can zip across the landscape on one of the longest zip wires in Europe or maybe Cupid’s arrow will hit the spot in a round of Archery! After your adrenaline levels have hit peak why not travel back to Newton Stewart for a spot of gin tasting to calm the nerves. Crafty Distillery is just along the road from Conifers so drop off the car at your lodge and head over in a taxi, that way no one will miss out on a wee tipple.

After such an active day you may just prefer to sit back and relax in your private hot tub (if you are staying with us) however if you are looking for a tasty dinner we would suggest heading to The Crown in Newton Stewart or House o’ Hill in Bargrennan.

A Touch of Romance in Perthshire

Perthshire is a beautiful area of Scotland with picturesque villages and beautiful walks that will truly take you away from it all.

Queens View, in the heart of highland Perthshire, will take you to one of the most iconic views in Scotland. The surrounding area of Strathtummel makes up part of Perthshire’s Big Tree Country and there are plenty of beautiful forest walks nearby. Just a short drive away is the village of Pitlochry where you will find an abundance of eateries and for a spot of lunch after your romantic stroll we would recommend Victoria’s Restaurant.

If you are looking to indulge a little this Valentines then take a trip to Fonab Castle for a spa day! Relax in the beautiful surroundings and then enjoy an afternoon tea overlooking Ben Vrackie.

For a delicious evening meal, head to the ‘Fair City’ of Perth. You will be spoilt for choice for restaurants! We would recommend Cardo, a contemporary Mediterranean restaurant, with a cosy atmosphere and extremely tasty dishes. Another of the Solid Luxury team favourite’s is Cafe Tabou, a fabulous French brasserie in the heart of the city.
