ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
Solid Luxury are committed to providing a good, high quality service whilst also minimising the environmental impact of our activities and we encourage our guests to follow this example.
PURCHASING
Wherever possible we seek goods that are not over-packaged and products that are durable or refillable. We supply “Fair Trade” welcome products wherever possible and actively promote and use local suppliers.
RECYCLING
We provide recycling bins and would encourage our guests to use these efficiently.
All unclaimed lost property and used equipment is donated to charity.
ENERGY AND WATER EFFICIENCY
We are committed to reducing energy consumption by more efficient programming and control of our heating systems. Our heating systems are thermostatically controlled and regulated according to property occupancy. We would ask our guests to minimise all heating requirements and be conscious of water usage and wastage.
We’re taking extra care to ensure that we are minimising the energy usage within the lodges by introducing energy efficient LED lighting and more energy efficient appliances. We encourage all guests to minimise energy use by turning off televisions, lights and radiators when not needed.
Our properties are also double glazed and very well insulated. We are also introducing eco shower heads to ensure the same quality of shower with a greater water saving.
TRANSPORT AND GETTING AROUND
Due to the remoteness of most of our properties using public transport quite often isn’t a viable option, however, for those that are able, getting out of the car and experiencing Scotland on foot or by bicycle is an exceptionally rewarding experience.
LANDSCAPE AND WILDLIFE FEATURES
We strive to create an enriched habitat for wildlife, with fallen timber and dead wood being left to encourage insects, deer runs being kept clear and bird feeders carefully positioned around the lodges. We have put up bird boxes, bat boxes and bug hotels where appropriate.
OUR FUTURE ENVIRONMENT POLICY
We continually review the measures which we are taking to implement our environmental policy and consider how we can improve them or add to them.
