Balmeadowside Country Lodges & Cottages

Balmeadowside Country Lodges & Cottages is ideal for those of you who love to arrive at your location and not leave again until it is time to go home! This location has 6 onsite walks ranging from a gentle stroll through the wooded area in front of our Treetop Lodges to the more challenging Khyber Pass walk which offers gorgeous views over the Fife countryside once you have reached the top!

 

All of our lodges at Balmeadowside offer enclosed decking areas for your four-legged friends to enjoy while you relax in the hot tub without the worry of them escaping, and our 6 cottages add the extra luxury for your dogs with enclosed gardens.

Fife is a great destination for dog lovers with gorgeous beaches, walks and dog friendly cafes/restaurants. If you are looking for somewhere close to Balmeadowside to grab a bite to eat we would recommend The Boudingait Cupar for a pub lunch or dinner, or Milly’s Kitchen for breakfast and lunch.

Conifer Lodges and Auchendoon at Conifers

Conifer Lodges and Auchendoon at Conifers are ideally located for those of you that like to venture out on mini adventures with an abundance of walks throughout The Galloway Forest, Loch Trool, Wood of Cree or the Portpatrick Coast to name just a few. For shorter walks you can stroll through the park and at the entrance to Conifers (Heron Way entrance) you can venture along the Woodland Walk which will take you through the woods and up to the Kirroughtree Hotel.

 

All of our properties at Conifers and Auchendoon offer enclosed decking/patio areas to ensure all dogs and humans can relax whilst taking in the peaceful surroundings!

 

Grab a bite to eat…

You can also walk into Newton Stewart from Conifers where there are dog friendly eateries like Brew Ha Ha and Brigend Pantry for delicious homemade cakes and lunches, or if you fancy some good pub grub we would recommend The Crown Hotel or the Creebridge House Hotel, especially on a sunny day! Drumfork Estate

Drumfork Estate is an excellent location for dog lovers, with plenty of land to explore should you wish to stay on the estate…just make sure your four-legged friends remember to pack some carrots for the pygmy goats they will meet on their travels! Drumfork also sits perfectly for exploring one of Scotland’s great trails, the Cateran Trail, a 64 mile circular route.

All of our properties at Drumfork are dog friendly and have a secure area however you may want to consider Gardener’s Cottage and Chauffeurs Cottage if you would prefer an enclosed garden.

 

Grab a bite to eat…

The Lair Glenshee is around 3 miles from Drumfork and offers a great selection of home baking along with light lunches, well behaved dogs are welcome inside and they also have an outdoor seating area for when the sun is shining! Just 7 miles away on the way to Blairgowrie you will find the Bridge of Cally Restaurant where you can get breakfast, lunch or dinner! There are also some great walks behind this restaurant should you wish to tire your four-legged friends out before you head in for something to eat. Further afield you can find dog friendly cafes in Blairgowrie and Pitlochry.

Greenmyre Farmhouse

With an enclosed garden and ample space throughout the farmhouse, Greenmyre is a great dog friendly location. Explore the farm with your dog/s (remembering to adhere to the Scottish Outdoor Access Code) or venture out on local walks like Loch of Kinnordy near Kirriemuir.

 

Grab a bite to eat…

Kirriemuir has a couple of great dog friendly eateries such as The Airlie Arms Hotel where you can enjoy a relaxed dinner in the bar area and 88 Degrees for lunch and delicious cakes!

 

In the opposite direction we would also recommend Peel Farm and the Wee Bear Cafe at Bridgend of Lintrathen.

Kiltarlity Lodges

Kiltarlity Lodges is a great location for you and your dogs with an abundance of walks in the surrounding areas from Kiltarlity Woods, to Cannich River Walk, Glen Affric and Reelig Glen to name just a few! All of our lodges and cottages at Kiltarlity are dog friendly with most offering enclosed decking areas. Breckland House also offers an enclosed garden for extra comfort. Please note that Heather Lodge 4 does not have an enclosed decking and Corrie House has an open garden.

 

For morning and evening strolls at Kiltarlity there is also a short walk around the boundary, this is also perfect for dogs that don’t require large walks.

 

Grab a bite to eat…

Once you have tried the shortbread provided in your property at Kiltarlity, you will know why we recommend stopping off at Kiltarlity Post Office, Coffee Shop! Although you aren’t able to take your dogs inside, they do have an outside covered area where you can sit in the nicer weather. A short drive into Beauly will take you to another recommendation of ours, The Priory Hotel where dogs are permitted in the bar area and the humans can enjoy a tasty lunch or dinner.

Rossie Ochil Estate

The peaceful surroundings at Rossie Ochil Estate are perfect for a relaxing getaway with the whole family! Explore the estate with your four-legged friends, just ask our housekeeper, Dolly, to point you in the right direction to ensure you aren’t entering any fields with our cattle. We also have a dedicated enclosed field near Partridge Lodge should you wish to let your dogs off the lead for a run around, but please we aware of the pheasant and partridge that also like to explore this field, if your dogs have poor recall.

 

Keepers Lodge and The Granary have great enclosed gardens, The Old Byre has an enclosed patio, and Partridge Lodge & Pheasant Lodge have enclosed decking’s which will allow you to enjoy your private hot tub without the worry of your dogs escaping. Please note that Rossie Ochil House does not offer an enclosed area for your dogs.

The closest local village with a dog friendly eatery is Bridge of Earn where you can find The Village Inn, previous guests have confirmed they have enjoyed great meals here! Further afield is the town of Perth where you are spoilt for choice for dog friendly cafes and restaurants like Brew & Chew, Cherrybank Inn, Brewdog & The Giddy Goose to name just a few.

Vicarsford Farmhouse

Close to St. Andrews and Tentsmuir Beach, Vicarsford Farmhouse is the perfect base for a dog friendly holiday in Fife for those that like to get out and about to explore the local area.

The famous St Andrews West Sands Beach offers 2 miles to explore which backs onto the renowned gold course.  Remember your £2 coin if you are visiting Tentsmuir Beach where you can not only explore the beach but also enjoy walks through the pine forest.

 

Grab a bite to eat…

Salt and Pine at Kinshaldy Beach (Tentsmuir) is a fantastic stop for tasty crepes, flatbreads and traybakes. We would also recommend The Rhynd Cafe for a hearty breakfast or lunch! St Andrews is around a 18 minute drive from Vicarsford and our team would recommend The Rule or The Criterion as their preferred dog friendly lunch/dinner venue after a walk on the beach.
